Imagine being held responsible for this patient. He lives in ‘supported’ accommodation with everything paid for. It’s hard to conceive of a patient more determined not to co-operate with mental health (but at the same time keeping all the goodies). So far as I can see, the only way he could avoid us more would be to go live on the street.

He escapes appointments by leaving the flat while the CCO is on his way.

He skips doctor’s appointments too.

When the CCO does catch him in, he fakes an anxiety attack – goes into another room. ‘It’s too stressful to talk to you,’ he lies.

He smokes synthetics, mamba, spice and more – in his paid for accommodation, (See post on Drug Induced Psychosis – which this is not) smashes up, attacks staff under the influence, police attend, taser, arrest, release, rinse-repeat.

Staff have no power. They report him blowing smoke in their faces. They feel affected by the drug so they have to withdraw. He has been in prison.

One day this muppet will go out of a window or into traffic or pick a fight with the wrong scrote. The home manages his  benefits in attempt to stop him buying drugs. It doesn’t work. He phones up relatives, claiming he’s being threatened and needs £50 to pay off his aggressors. The relatives weakly accede.

NB My guess is his parents failed at many of the essential parental tasks; saying ‘no’, enforcing boundaries, absolutely forbidding drugs. Is this patient one of those babied children JP mentions? Doomed by foolish parents – imagining they were progressive – who by failing to socialise him, failing to make him take responsibility for the ownership of his life have created a friendless, purposeless, sponging addict. Who the rest of us have to pay for but have no say about the generosity of benefits he can waste, the extravagance of his free accommodation and the de-facto get-out-of-jail card for drugs, criminal damage and assault.

Those parents phone up complaining he isn’t being seen – I’ve told you why. I suspect it’s a mother whose sweet little prince is incapable of wrongdoing.

This patient intermittently takes meds. Staff keep them and give them out but withhold if he’s doped up. He is skilled at pretending to be ok at official interviews, this isn’t uncommon in psych patients. But in truth, he lives in chaos –I repeat for emphasis, while living in supported accommodation you are paying for – except for the times he is monged out. The drugs, do I even need to say this, are the cause and the only cause of the chaos. Eventually the disempowered staff will pester their bosses until they evict him. That helps nobody but those staff, which is at least a positive for them.

What level of ‘support’ is this patient receiving in the community? Precisely zero. But he does count toward the figures of patients successfully being managed out of hospital.

Sickening, isn’t it?

But wait, it can and does get even more sickening.

Here are some blaming headlines and articles from the MSM from the Calocane enquiry. Check where the reporter places the blame. Not where, but on whom, I should say.

Nottingham killer was not sectioned because of his race, inquiry told. Guardian

Mental health professionals decided not to detain the Nottingham triple killer Valdo Calocane despite a violent incident in 2020, after they considered research that addressed the over-representation of young black men in custody…

The MHA was reviewed and rewritten in 2018 to make it harder to detain BMEs, no matter how dangerous. Staff didn’t do that. The blame lies with government and their pet academics and the WHO/UN. But look at the article’s cunning phrasing and where the blame is placed. ‘Decided not to detain…’ places it firmly on the ground floor professionals.

Nottingham killer allowed to avoid vital medication because of ‘fear of needles’ claim, report reveals. SKY

Who did the allowing? Exactly. Same people. Ground floor. Never the real villains who can summon hundreds of thousands of taxpayer pounds to sic QCs on the media. Truth is irrelevant to these brave keyboard crusaders. There are buckets of these stories, but these are enough to prove my point. Besides, I’m making myself sick.

If you looked these stories up on social media, it gets way, way worse. The public both exaggerate the known facts and are much more damning  about individual staff and what their punishments should be. They are stupid, lazy and credulous enough to fall hook, line and sinker for the worst hatchet jobs.
